As we approach fall, that means it is almost time for our annual Student Food Drive. Local and surrounding school districts will compete against each other to collect the most food donations, raise the most money, and volunteer the most hours. Last year, local students raised over $23,000 and provided 154,000 meals. To find out how you can contribute during the Student Food Drive, contact your local school district.
This year's theme is "Hustle to End Hunger," inspired by the popular 1970s dance crazw. Students are encouraged to channel their inner disco while making an impact in the fight against hunger. Community members are also encouraged to get involved by reaching out to their local school districts to learn more about how they can contribute with donations, volunteer hours, and spreading awareness.
Participating high schools this year include: Aplington-Parkersburg, Cedarr Falls, Dike-New Hartford, Dunkerton, Hudson, North Tama, Valley Lutheran, Waterloo East, Waterloo West.
