We distribute free or reduced grocery items among 153 community partners throughout our sixteen-county service area. These agencies include congregate meal sites, churches, daycares, nonprofits, shelters, pantries, and soup kitchens.
The Food Bank is able to bring in food at a reduced cost, or even free, and pass those savings on to our agencies. Most times, nonprofit organizations do not have the storage capacity to bring in large quantities of food. That is where the Food Bank steps in and provides the warehousing for these organizations.
Member Agencies include pantries, soup kitchens, congregate meal programs, shelters and non profit daycares. Qualified agencies pay a shared maintenance fee which is anywhere from $0.00 to $0.21 per pound. Through our member agencies, we provide food and grocery products to roughly 150 qualified nonprofit organizations in 16 northeast Iowa counties.
Have you ever wondered where nonprofits and churches get their food supply from?
